Liverpool's Unbeaten Start to Season Ends in Derby Defeat to Everton

Record-Breaking Attendance at Goodison Park

Liverpool Suffer First WSL Defeat of the Campaign

Liverpool's perfect start to the Women's Super League season came to an end on Sunday as they suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to local rivals Everton in front of a club-record attendance of 27,574.

The attendance surpassed the previous record set in the last meeting between the two sides in 2019, when 23,500 watched Everton win. The match was played in a raucous atmosphere at Goodison Park, with both sets of fans in full voice throughout.

Everton took the lead in the first half through Lucy Graham's header, before doubling their advantage through a deflected effort from Izzy Christiansen. Liverpool pushed for a way back into the game in the second half, but they were unable to break down a resolute Everton defense.

The defeat leaves Liverpool in third place in the WSL table, while Everton move up to second. Liverpool will be looking to bounce back when they travel to Manchester United next weekend, while Everton will host Chelsea.
