Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande Join the Magical World of Oz
The two-part film adaptation of the Broadway hit will star Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
The upcoming film adaptation of the Broadway musical "Wicked" has found its Elphaba and Glinda, with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande set to take on the iconic roles. The casting was announced by director Jon M. Chu on Twitter, who shared a photo of Erivo and Grande in costume with the caption, "Two emerald green girls, and a bottle of bubbly. #WickedMovie."
Erivo, who won a Tony Award for her performance in "The Color Purple," will play Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. Grande, who is a Grammy Award-winning singer, will play Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.
The "Wicked" movie is set for release in two parts, with the first part scheduled to be released on November 27, 2024. The film will also star Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible.
